About

Professional G&S company Forbear! present their Terry Pratchett inspired reimagining of 'The Mikado', ahead of its transfer to New York this Autumn.

A wandering minstrel agrees to die at the hands of the Lord High Executioner in exchange for one month of marriage to the love of his life. However, when he reveals his secret past to his new companions, there begins a desperate and hilarious battle to save themselves from being boiled alive. Minimal changes have been made to the text in bringing this Fantasy kingdom to life, with the same madcap characters, plot and iconic songs that have been loved for generations.

Now in their tenth year, Forbear! Theatre regularly perform in London, Hever Castle, the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival, and on tour.

Praise for this production:
"They live for their art. And it shows in their show. You could put this production on at the London Coliseum" (five stars) - London Theatre 1
"Superb singing and silly goings on in the land of Tirwudu" (four stars) - London Pub Theatres
"Rachel Middle has given an old story a beautiful new home" (four stars) - North Westend
"A real triumph from the creative team who have passionately and carefully reimagined this iconic piece of theatrical history" (four stars) - The Deskbound Dramatic
