About

Noted for the wide avenue of Wellingtonia Orton Longueville Wood sits in the grounds of what was Orton Hall now a hotel. Planted in the 19th century it is largely made up of native trees and shrubs. The pond is home to great crested newts.

 

Wildlife yuo migth be able to see includes: 

- Frogs
- Newts 
- Water Beetles 
- Tawny Owl, 
- Sparrow Hawk 
- Great Spotted, Green, and Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers
- Treecreepers 
- Nuthatch

There is also a rookery in the centre of the wood.

Road Directions

By Road:In Peterborough. From junction 17 on A1(M) take A1139 east to Peterborough. Take third exit on to A1260 north. Take second exit, then go left at roundabout following the brown Thorpe Wood sign. Follow Thorpe Wood turning right in to Thorpe Road just after police station. Cross over main road then take first right into Holywell Way. Entrance to reserve car park is on right.
