Camille Rhodes of Peterborough is organising her very own March for Men at the beautiful and popular
Ferry Meadows, part of the Nene Park Trust – to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, and awareness of
the disease.

The event takes place on Sunday 7th October 2018 and attendees can take on either the short 2.5km
route around the Wildflower trail or the 5km route walk around Wildflower and The Ham Mere trail.

Camille was inspired to fundraise for Prostate Cancer UK after her husband was diagnosed with prostate
cancer at the age of 43. Camille’s uncle was also diagnosed with the disease and was the first person she
knew to have prostate cancer that sadly passed away.
Camille started fundraising for the charity in 2018 and her aim is to raise £200,000. She has now formed a
team ‘Uniting4theguys’. She hopes that the money raised at the March for Men event will help them reach
the fundraising target, and would like the funds to go towards vital research into better and earlier
diagnosis, treatment and support to men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

Camille said: “I am really looking forward to the March for Men and I’m delighted to have organised this event
in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. Three years after my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I felt I
needed to do something positive to channel my feelings, so I decided to start fundraising for Prostate Cancer
UK and organise several events and take on many challenges throughout the year.
“As a black/mixed race man my son has a 1 in 4 chance of getting prostate cancer, which is extremely
concerning. We all have a male in our life that we care about; any one of them could be diagnosed with
prostate cancer.

“So please join me at our March for Men and help spread awareness and raise much-needed funds for
Prostate Cancer UK, so we can make this a disease that the next generation of men, like my son, do not fear.”
James Beeby, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “It’s fantastic to see that Camille has
decided to organise a March for Men in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire for Prostate Cancer UK. We want to
encourage as many people as possible to take part and help us raise vital funds for more ground-breaking

“Currently one man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer in the UK. That’s more than 11,000 men a
year and by 2030, prostate cancer is set to become the most commonly diagnosed cancer of all in the UK. So
whatever you do, whether it’s a local walk or huge challenge, you’ll be helping us push for real change, from
more effective testing to better treatments.”
