Stonea Camp - March

Stonea Camp is a scheduled site of national importance and has a fascinating history linked to both the Iceni tribe and the Romans. Possibly linked to Queen Boudicca the site itself stands on a gravel island just two metres above sea level. The guided walk around part of the site will look at the archaeology, the surrounding landscape, the camps demise and the rise and fall of the impressive Roman Stonea Grange built adjacent to the site.

David Crawford-White will be your expert guide.

Times:
The walk will start at 10am at the site car park and will last approximately 1.5 hours. Those attending are free to bring a packed lunch or go into March and have a meal at one of the many hostels in the town. The tour of the museum will start at 1pm and will last approximately one hour. It’s a fascinating small museum with some finds from the excavations at Stonea Grange.
