Happy New Year!
Peterborough has events and festivals taking place all year and January is full of things to do.
The main highlights for this month are the Straw Bear Festival, Whittlesey on 13th-15th, LAMMA on 18th-19th at Peterborough Arena, MineVention 2017 at the Cresset on 21st-22nd and to commemorate the life of King Henry VIII’s first Queen, the Katherine of Aragon Festival takes place at the Cathedral and Museum on 26th-29th.
Other highlights are the museum exhibitions - The Travelling Post Office on 19th and Tremendous Tudors on 21st. The La Nativité du Seigneur: Olivier Messiaen is on 15th at the Cathedral and the Holocaust Memorial takes place at St. John’s the Baptist on 26th.
For a breath of fresh air, the outdoor based event Campfire Cooking with Kids is on 21st at Ferry Meadows, and you will learn bush techniques like how to light a fire along with cooking recipes and much more whilst having a great family day out.
The John Clare theatre is hosting an array of exciting films this year and Januarys film is ‘Julieta’ on 19th also the Eastern Angles theatre group will present ‘Come and Meet the Stoats of Stoat Hall’ at Key Theatre on 24th – 28th.
The Hidden Heritage Tour is the essential guide to Peterborough’s past on the 14th, 21st and 28th runs from the museum every Saturday afternoon through January, plus the Priestgate Vaults tour will delight history lovers and run most days at 2.30pm.
