Happy New Year!

Our glorious Cathedral is the jewel in the city’s crown, and throughout the whole of 2018 the cathedral and city are joining together in celebration of the 900th anniversary of this magnificent place.

Take a look at some of the events taking place for PETERBOROUGH CELEBRATES 900.

Peterborough has events and festivals taking place all year and January is full of things to do.

The main highlights for this month are the Katherine of Aragon Festival takes place at the Cathedral and Museum on 24th-28th commemorating the life of King Henry V111’s first wife, buried in Peterborough Cathedral. The 39th Whittlesea Straw Bear Festival is on 12th-14th, LAMMA is on 17th at the East of England Arena.

Other highlights are Dunsinane by David Greig at Peterborough Cathedral from 3rd – 11th, Peterborough Book Fair at Highgate Hall  on 14th, Music and Meditation at John Clare Theatre Suite and not forgetting the Holocaust Memorial Day Service at St John’s Church on 25th.

For a breath of fresh air the outdoor based events are Moments Planting Trees  each weekend at the regions country park, Ferry Meadows as well as, Family & Friends Volunteering on the 14th and Making a Hazel Hurdle on the 23rd.

The John Clare theatre is hosting an array of exciting films this year, the first film on 4th is ‘The Levelling’, also the Eastern Angles theatre group will present ‘The Lady Killers of Orton Brimbles’ at Key Theatre on 23rd – 27th and there’s Live Stand Up Comedy at the Broadway on 23rd.

The Hidden Heritage Tour is the essential guide to Peterborough’s past on the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th runs from the museum every Saturday afternoon through January, plus the Priestgate Vaults tour will delight history lovers and run most days at 2.30pm.

Other highlights for January include the *daily Guided Tours of Peterborough Cathedral at 11.30 and 2pm.
